Disappearance of Inaayah, 7 years old, in Casablanca: the desperate cry of her parents
A British family is plunged into unbearable waiting after the disappearance of Inaayah Makda, 7 years old, swept away by a wave near Casablanca on January 28th. Her parents strongly criticize the lack of support from the Moroccan and British authorities as the search continues in difficult weather conditions.
The incident occurred on Wednesday, January 28th, late in the day, as the girl and her family were watching the sunset on rocks by the sea. According to the testimony of her father, Zubair Makda, an abnormal wave suddenly threw Inaayah and her parents into the water. The child was quickly swept away towards the open sea, separated from her loved ones by the force of the tide. Since then, the parents, originally from Blackburn, describe a daily life marked by intense pain and fear, while still hoping that their daughter may have reached a safe place along the coast, reports The Sun.
The family has strongly criticized the police and Moroccan authorities, claiming that no major official search has been conducted and that the dispatch of rescue boats has been refused. The Makdas say they have been forced to rely heavily on local volunteers and private initiatives to try to locate Inaayah. A GoFundMe crowdfunding campaign has even exceeded $60,000 to finance these independent efforts. The victim’s relatives also point out that the rocks where the tragedy occurred were not marked with any particular danger warning.
The family’s discontent also extends to the British authorities, who are considered too little active on a practical level. Although the case is officially being followed, the parents deplore the lack of concrete actions to help them navigate this complex international context. Blackburn MP Adnan Hussain has taken up the case and promised to intervene with the British government to ensure that all possible measures are taken. Meanwhile, private searches continue along the Atlantic Ocean despite a rough sea that hinders operations.
