Drama in Tetouan: The death toll rises to 4, one last passenger still missing
Four people have perished and a fifth remains untraceable after their vehicle was swept away by a sudden flood on Saturday in the province of Tetouan. Rescue teams continue the search to locate the last missing passenger.
The tragedy occurred on Saturday on provincial road 4704, at the level of the commune of Bni Harchen. A light vehicle carrying five passengers was surprised by the sudden rise in the waters of a tributary of the Oued Rmilat, before being engulfed by the current.

The search operations, launched immediately after the alert, made it possible to recover the first two bodies on Saturday evening: a 14-year-old teenager and a 2-year-old child. On Sunday morning, the teams discovered two other victims, a 12-year-old boy and a man in his thirties.

A significant rescue device has been deployed by the local authorities and the Civil Protection to find the missing persons. The search involves diving teams, canine brigades and drones to fly over the area, supported by volunteers.
While the investigations on the ground continue to locate the fifth person still reported missing, the competent prosecutor’s office has ordered the opening of a judicial inquiry. This procedure aims to determine the exact circumstances of this fatal accident.
