Dozens of Sub-Saharan Migrants Attempt Border Crossing into Spanish Ceuta

The Moroccan security forces and the Spanish Civil Guard arrested early Tuesday a group of about sixty young migrants from sub-Saharan Africa who tried to reach Spain via Ceuta.
Several of these young Sub-Saharans managed to climb the outer fence of the autonomous city, but could not access Spanish territory, according to police sources.
According to the Benemérita Guard, a group of 150 migrants was "identified shortly after midnight" near the border perimeter. Around 6 a.m., part of them, about sixty, approached the fence where units of the Ceuta Civil Guard were deployed with the support of the Reserve and Security Groups (GRS) and the Citizen Security Unit (USECI).
Their action, combined with that of the Moroccan security forces, made it possible to "contain" the attempt of these migrants who managed to climb the first fence made of metal structures.
In recent weeks, the Spanish security forces have noted an "increase" in the number of sub-Saharan migrants settled around Ceuta.
