Diesel Prices Surge in Morocco as Global Tensions Impact Fuel Costs

Inflation risks starting up again this September. Fuel price increases are therefore to be feared.
The price of a liter of diesel increased by about 1 dirham at the beginning of September, to the surprise of motorists. According to the National Federation of Owners, Merchants and Managers of Service Stations in Morocco (FNPCGS), the price of a liter of diesel is 14.91 dirhams at Afriquia (an increase of 1.03 dirhams per liter) and 14.98 dirhams at Shell stations (an increase of 0.91 dirhams per liter).
This increase could continue throughout the month due to the Russian-Ukrainian war, as well as the impact of the Russian giant Gazprom’s decision to interrupt gas deliveries to Europe via Germany. Only the price of gasoline has stabilized (14.68 dirhams per liter).
On Monday, oil prices rebounded, because "the oil powers have hinted at a reduction in oil production to stabilize prices," reports the Arabic daily Al Akhbar. Clearly, the next few days look difficult for motorists here and elsewhere.
