Didier Drogba Debunks Viral Rumors of Conversion to Islam

Didier Drogba cut short the rumors about his conversion to Islam, widely circulated on social media. This is not the case, reacted the former Ivorian footballer on Monday.
Several of Didier Drogba’s subscribers on Facebook and Twitter reacted positively to the publication of a photo of him with Muslim friends, in which he raised his hands to the sky as required by the Islamic ritual of invocation.
The photo went viral on social media. Muslim internet users, pleased with this alleged conversion of the former Chelsea striker, welcomed him. Journalists from public and private media also relayed the information that Drogba had become Muslim.
But this is not the case. "This story is going viral, but I haven’t changed religion. I just paid tribute to my Muslim brothers that I was visiting in my village. A moment of communion," clarified the former Ivorian international on his Facebook page.
Muslim players are highly appreciated in the Arab-Muslim world. This is the case of Bayern Munich striker Sadio Mané of Senegal or French midfielder N’Golo Kanté.
