Diamond League Postpones Rabat Meeting Amid Coronavirus Concerns

The Diamond League has postponed the Rabat meeting, scheduled for late May, due to the coronavirus pandemic. This postponement comes after those of Naples and Stockholm.
In a press release, the organizers said the decision was taken in close consultation with all the parties concerned. For the Diamond League, the global spread of the Covid-19 pandemic, the travel restrictions that should be in effect for some time, and above all the concerns about the safety of the athletes, have made it impossible to organize the planned competitions.
The organizers remain determined, however, to offer a structured and extended season in 2020. In this perspective, new dates for the Diamond League events will be announced, in cooperation with the World Athletics Global Calendar Unit as soon as the situation allows for safe organization.
To recall, Stockholm was to host a meeting on May 24, followed by Naples (May 28) and Rabat (May 31). The postponement of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games to next year would open up space on the calendar if the coronavirus pandemic could be brought under control by mid-July.
