Desperate Migrant’s Suicide Attempt Thwarted on Ceuta Beach Amid Border Crisis

A video posted on social media testifies to the migration crisis and the despair affecting migrants. While the Moroccan police are multiplying repatriations to the Moroccan border, Yassine, a delivery man, saved in extremis a young Moroccan who was trying to hang himself on the beach.
From the testimony collected by France Inter, we learn that the scene took place on Friday on the El Tarajal beach in Ceuta, 500 meters from the Moroccan border. A young Moroccan migrant attempted suicide.
"I heard someone calling me, desperate," Yassine, a delivery man who was passing by in his van, tells France Inter. "I stopped, and when I approached, I saw him, hanging. His eyes were closed. I got out, I took him in my arms, I removed the knot." The firefighters quickly arrived on the scene, with oxygen and a defibrillator. "We resuscitated him. Fortunately, he started breathing again," Yassine recounts.
In his account, the savior reveals that the young man is a Moroccan. "He is one of the boys who arrived these days, he holds a Moroccan identity document, he is 27 years old," he told France Inter, before urging governments to truly take the necessary measures against this scourge.
