Deadline Looms for Vehicle Tax Payment: Late Fees to Hit Procrastinating Drivers

The final deadline for paying vehicle stickers is set for January 31 for drivers of vehicles subject to the sticker tax. As of February 1, late payers must pay penalties and surcharges of up to 15% for the first month of delay and 0.5% per additional month or fraction of a month.
Late drivers must pay a minimum of 100 DH, reports Les Inspirations Eco. "We are in the rush period," says the CEO of Cash Plus, Hazim Sebbata. According to the official, nearly half of the payments are made during the last four days of the month when the vast majority of taxpayers pay. At the payment points for this tax, the influx is noticeable.
Since 2016, a vehicle sticker payment system has been set up in partnership with the banking network and payment service providers. Payment points have thus been extended to bank branches, websites... As for the costs generated by this service, they vary according to the payment channel. As for people who have obtained a payment receipt through one of these channels, they can issue a vehicle sticker payment certificate on the vignette.ma website.
This year, no change in vehicle sticker rates has been planned by the 2021 Finance Act. Since January 1, any vehicle transfer, subject to the annual special tax, is only carried out in the name of the assignee if it is justified, beforehand, by the payment of the tax relating to the current year of assessment or the exemption from this tax.
