David Beckham to Headline Green March Gala Match in Morocco
David Beckham, one of the former football legends, also a businessman, is expected on November 6 at the Cheikh Mohamed Laghdaf Stadium in Laâyoune, Morocco, for the gala match as part of the celebration of the 44th anniversary of the Green March.
For this edition, Morocco will count on the participation of the former football star, David Beckham, in the Green March gala match.
This former Manchester United and Real Madrid Galacticos player will once again be in the Kingdom. In 2015, he was there to celebrate his 40th birthday in Marrakech.
Other former football celebrities are announced for this gala match. Among them, the former Senegalese internationals El-Hadji Diouf and Khalilou Fadiga and several former South American football stars such as the Colombians René Higuita and Carlos Valderrama, the Argentines Javier Saviola and Ayala, and the Brazilians Rivaldo and Ronaldinho.
Initiated by King Hassan II, the Green March is celebrated every year in memory of the 1975 movement where 350,000 unarmed Moroccans marched towards the Sahara, to protest against the Spanish occupation.
