Dakhla Emerges as Investment Hotspot in Morocco’s Growing Tourism Sector

"Gateway to the African continent", the Dakhla-Oued Eddahab region is one of the most preferred destinations in the Kingdom for investors.
According to the Senegalese news agency (APS), in this region located two hours by plane from Casablanca, and endowed with several assets, tourism is highly developed, especially water sports. This important advantage promotes the establishment of many hotels and restaurants in Dakhla, where the desert and the sea meet.
Dakhla-Oued Eddahab has become an area of opportunities, particularly for the Senegalese community numbering 800, due to its economic boom. In this locality, the Senegalese represent the largest community, followed by the Ivorians and the Guineans, says the wali of the Dakhla-Oued Eddahab region, and governor of the province of Oued Eddahab, Lamine Benomar.
For the head of this locality, residence permits are never refused to women and children; but for men, it is normal to conduct an investigation because we cannot take just anyone. "But in general, they easily obtain the document," he added.
Established in Dakhla for a few months, a Senegalese supports that the remuneration is good in the locality, with the same benefits enjoyed by Moroccans, thanks to permanent contracts. "We can even get a bank loan and acquire land," he testifies.
With the determination of the local authorities who encourage the establishment of foreign communities, the Sahara which constituted a break between these two entities of the continent is now becoming a means of strengthening the relations between Morocco and the rest of Africa, it is also read.
