Dacia Leads Moroccan Car Sales as January Auto Market Grows 6.63%

Morocco sold 12,084 new vehicles at the end of January 2024, representing an increase of 6.63% compared to the same period last year, according to updated data from the Association of Vehicle Importers in Morocco (AIVAM).
Of the 12,084 new vehicles sold, there are 11,074 passenger cars (VP), i.e. 5.54% more than in 2023, and 1,010 light commercial vehicles (VUL), representing a 20.24% increase, reveals the AIVAM in its latest publication of monthly statistics on the Moroccan automotive market.
In the passenger car segment, the "Dacia" brand is in the lead with 3,790 units sold in January, i.e. a market share of 34.22%, compared to 1,522 units for Renault (13.74%) and 1,051 units for Hyundai (9.49%). Regarding the light commercial vehicle segment, Renault dominates the market with 273 units sold (27.03%), followed by DFSK with 148 vehicles (14.65%) and Ford with 141 units (13.96%).
On the premium side, 366 Audi brand cars were sold (3.31% market share), more than double BMW (180 units sold and 1.63% market share) and a little less than Mercedes-Benz (249 units and 2.25% market share). At the end of January 2024, Porsche came out with 56 units sold, i.e. an increase of 0.51% year-on-year, compared to 11 units sold for the Jaguar brand (0.1%).
