Cyclist Evenepoel’s Wife Refutes Journalist’s Claims About Her Background on Instagram
Oumi Rayane, cyclist Remco Evenepoel’s wife, reacted publicly via an Instagram story, two days after comments made about her by Sporza journalist Ruben Van Gucht during a television show. Her post contained a direct response to the journalist’s claims about her family situation.
In this story, Oumi Rayane, of Moroccan origin, first presented a photo of herself captioned "My work outfit". She then added a text specifying the origin of her personal situation: "Thanks to my own performances and studies financed by my parents." This message directly referred to the statements previously made by Ruben Van Gucht.
The context of this response dates back to Monday evening. During the Flemish show De Afspraak, Ruben Van Gucht had claimed that Remco Evenepoel was financially supporting his wife’s family. The cyclist had very quickly denied this information, stating: "This is completely absurd. My wife comes from a well-off family, with parents who, through their hard work and entrepreneurial spirit, have built a good life".
Oumi Rayane then directly addressed the journalist: "Remember that you know nothing about my life. I don’t even show you one percent of it."
