Customs Seize 162 Tons of Smuggled Fabric Worth 17 Million Dirhams in Morocco

At the end of last week, the National Customs Brigade carried out searches and checks in clandestine warehouses, in Casablanca and Oujda. This surprise operation by the competent authorities resulted in the seizure of 162 tons of high-quality fabrics, according to the customs administration’s press release.
By targeting an organized smuggling network, at the end of last week, the National Customs Brigade was far from imagining that it could hit the jackpot: 162 tons of smuggled fabrics, worth more than 17 million dirhams.
This big catch by customs was made possible thanks to the dynamism of its specialized services and the regional directorates of Casablanca-Settat and the Oriental, under the supervision of the Public Prosecutor’s Office. The clandestine warehouses, discovered in Casablanca and Oujda, were used for the storage and distribution of smuggled goods, without justification, indicates the same source.
An investigation has been opened to determine the responsibilities of the persons involved in this case.
