CTM Expands into Maritime Transport with Majority Stake in Africa Morocco Link

The Othman Benjelloun group, O Capital Group, is reshuffling the cards in the Moroccan maritime transport sector. The Compagnie de Transports au Maroc (CTM) is taking over the majority stake (51%) in Africa Morocco Link (AML) held by Bank Of Africa.
This operation, subject to the approval of the authorities, is part of a diversification strategy for CTM. The company’s expertise in passenger and freight transport will be used to develop AML, born in 2016 from a partnership between Bank Of Africa and the Greek shipowner Attica Holdings SA.
CTM aims to become an essential player in multimodal mobility in Morocco and the region. The acquisition of AML, which operates freight and passenger ferry links between Tanger Med and Algeciras, is a major asset. A new line between Tanger Ville and Tarifa is also planned for this summer to serve the very large number of Moroccans residing abroad who are returning to the country.
