Crackdown on Smuggling Boosts Consumer Product Sales, Shifts Illicit Trade Routes

The measures put in place to fight smuggling in Sebta and Melilla are a boon for operators specialized in the distribution of consumer products. But we will have to remain vigilant, because part of the traffic has shifted to new circuits.
Operators do not hide their satisfaction with the turnaround of the situation in their favor. The thermometer, which is none other than their turnover, has improved. The Director of Customs states that a large part of the peddlers are returning to settle at home. Some "big" smuggling operators are seriously considering conversion, reports L’Économiste.
Customs intends to maintain the pressure and invites operators to fully play their role so that the benefits sought in the fight against the phenomenon are real and lasting, the newspaper specifies.
