COVID-19 Outbreak: 80 Infected in Agadir Hotel Cluster, Morocco Takes Urgent Action

Despite the vaccination campaign and health measures, several Covid-19 cases were reported in a hotel in Agadir on Sunday, July 11. Nearly 80 people, including hotel staff members, tested positive.
In Morocco, the epidemiological situation remains worrying. A cluster of contamination was discovered after the appearance of virus symptoms in some of the hotel’s guests in Agadir, reports Le360. The management of the establishment immediately launched a massive screening. In total, nearly 80 people, including members of the hotel staff, tested positive for the coronavirus.
The local health and security authorities have taken urgent measures: the hotel was quickly cordoned off, and an internal monitoring cell was set up. The infected people were placed in quarantine, while the critical cases were transferred to the Hassan II Hospital in Agadir.
Like several other regions of the kingdom, Souss-Massa and its capital, Agadir, are currently facing a resurgence of Covid-19 cases. On Sunday, the region recorded 181 new cases of contamination, 133 of which were in the city of Agadir alone.
