COVID-19 Outbreak Hits Moroccan Soccer Clubs Ahead of League Restart

The results of the massive screening required in all Botola clubs before the resumption are known. Several cases of contamination were recorded on Monday among the players and technical staff of Ittihad de Tanger, and also of Casablanca.
Following the discovery of these cases of covid-19 infection, the health protocol put in place by the federation was quickly activated, reports the daily Al Akhbar which specifies that the equipment manager of the club contracted the coronavirus.
According to the same media, the only case detected in the club’s staff had exchanged handshakes before the screening verdict. He had also prepared the equipment used for the training session by the players. Informed, the regional directorate of the Ministry of Health decided to quarantine the players, pending further screening tests, next Saturday.
As for the person concerned, he was transferred to a hospital where patients infected with the coronavirus are treated. In addition, a player and two members of the technical and medical staff of Racing de Casablanca would also be contaminated by the virus. The health authorities have required the resumption of screening tests before returning to training.
