COVID-19 Outbreak Hits Moroccan Migrant Youth Center in Spanish Enclave of Ceuta

More than 10% of the 185 young Moroccans residing at the Temporary Relocation Center for Unaccompanied Foreign Minors (Menas) of "La Esperanza" in Ceuta have tested positive for Covid-19, according to the city’s Health Department.
"So far, the number of positive cases is around twenty, after the antigen tests that are carried out without delay on the number of people who have had direct contact with the residents of the center," the regional government specified.
All the detected cases are asymptomatic "except for one case presenting mild symptoms of the disease," it is added. The 185 Moroccans, residents of the center, have been placed in quarantine, in accordance with the protocol in force.
"La Esperanza", the largest center for minors in Ceuta, has been facing a problem of "overcrowding" for two years, due to the rise in immigration of young Moroccans. At the start of the health crisis, the city had to set up new temporary housing that still houses a hundred migrant minors in order to limit the spread of Covid-19.
