COVID-19 Outbreak Closes French School in Morocco, Shifts Classes Online

Several teachers have tested positive for Covid-19 at the Lycée Descartes in Rabat. As a result, the administration decided on Sunday to temporarily close the high school to protect students and the rest of the teachers from possible contamination.
During the 14 days of closure, students will take their classes remotely. In a statement published on the Lycée Descartes website and sent to parents, principal Najat Delpeyrat announced the conditions under which the closure took place. According to the same statement, from Monday, September 14, teachers must properly play their role as educators with the classes they are in charge of, with the only difference that it will be remotely. The details of this type of teaching were communicated to parents on Monday evening, after the meeting of the educational committee.
In addition to the Lycée Descartes, there is also the private Jacques Chirac school group, also affiliated with the AEFE, which has seen the disinfection of its premises and the organization of collective screening tests for the staff. One of the members was reported to be Covid-19 positive. This is what caused the commotion observed on Sunday at the school group, which also decided to switch to distance learning at least during the day on Monday.
