COVID-19 Halts British Oil Company’s Drilling Project in Morocco

Due to the risks related to the spread of covid-19 and the restrictions imposed by the state of emergency in Morocco, the British company Predator Oil & Gas has decided to interrupt the drilling operations on its Moroccan Guercif I to IV project, started a few weeks ago in the east of the country.
The general confinement of the population decreed by Morocco limits the economic activities of the country. Exploration projects are not spared. According to agenceecofin, "the Guercif project covers an area of 7,269 km² and is located about 250 kilometers east of the Rharb basin". Predator Oil & Gas holds 75% of the Guercif project and operates in a joint venture with the National Office of Hydrocarbons and Mines of Morocco (ONHYM) which controls the remaining 25%.
"The drilling program initially aims to drill a prospect on the Moulouya-1 well which will reach a depth of 2,000. The well is located on a trend from which SDX Energy has discovered several deposits in the region," it is specified.
