Cost of Student Living in France Rises 3.69%, Impacting Moroccan and International Students

The cost of student life will be more than 3% more expensive for the 2020-2021 school year for all students in France, including Moroccans.
According to the National Union of French Students (UNEF), expenses related to the 2020-2021 school year will increase by 3.69%. For its part, the Federation of Student General Associations (FAGE) talks about a cumulative increase bringing the cost of the start of the school year to 2,361 euros, which represents an additional cost of 76 euros compared to last year.
The UNEF report indicates that rent, the main expense item representing 69% of the monthly budget of students, is now set at 535 euros per month instead of 522 euros, an increase of 2.41%. Transport prices will see a slight increase of less than 0.5%. The student will have to spend more than 300 euros for the annual subscription in several cities (Paris, Rennes, Lyon, Lille, etc.).
From the next school year, students will have to wear masks in classrooms. This requirement from the Ministry of Higher Education will require, according to UNEF, an expense of 230 euros for the 2020-2021 school year.
