Moroccan Student Applications to French Universities Surge Despite Pandemic

Despite the health crisis, Moroccan students are not giving up on their plans to pursue higher education in France. In preparation for the 2020-2021 academic year, the Minister of National Education, Saaïd Amzaz, held sessions with the French embassy in Rabat to facilitate the issuance of visas to Moroccan students enrolled in French institutions.
According to statistics from the French embassy, around 25,000 application files from Moroccan students wishing to pursue their studies in France have been received by Campus France. For Saaïd Amzaz, the Minister of National Education, this number is "largely higher than that recorded the previous year", recalling that nearly 12,000 students leave Morocco each year for study projects in France.
To validate his file, the candidate must first obtain the agreement of enrollment in a French educational institution, reports l’Economiste. For example, the application file of Hachim, a student in the 2nd year of the EST de Salé, who applied for enrollment in a professional bachelor’s degree in a university institute of technology in France, was accepted. It remains that Campus France proceeds to the final validation of the file and issues him the necessary documents for obtaining the visa.
From the next academic year, Moroccan students in preparatory classes who successfully pass the entrance exams to the grandes écoles of engineering and business in France (Polytechnique, Centrale, Mines and Ponts, HEC, etc.) will be authorized to continue their higher education there, announces the French embassy.
