Coronavirus Fears Lead to 50% Drop in Algerian Tourism Bookings to Morocco

The coronavirus already seems to be having an impact on the Moroccan economy, particularly the tourism sector, a major foreign exchange earner.
50% of tourist travel programs to Morocco, Tunisia, Europe and Asia have been canceled, in the absence of customer bookings for the months of March and April, announced the president of the Algerian union of travel agencies.
Painting a bleak picture of the future of travel agencies in Algeria, due to the losses caused by this epidemic, the president expressed skepticism about a possible improvement of the situation in the coming weeks.
"Even if the virus disappears in the next few days, the situation will only get worse due to the travel phobia generated by the epidemic and the strong media coverage of the panic," he lamented.
