Controversy Erupts Over Unauthorized Café Construction in Moroccan Roundabout

In Morocco, voices are being raised against the construction of a two-story café in the middle of a roundabout in the commune of Sidi Allal Bahraoui, in the province of Khémisset.
On the web, many activists are criticizing the construction of this café in violation of the texts in force. They denounce the silence and complicity of the commune and the local authorities. They blame the urban agency of Khemisset for having given its approval to the project. They have a hard time understanding that a municipal property can be transferred to an investor to carry out a private project, and that the agency authorizes this architectural atrocity, in flagrant violation of the law.
Although the law is clear and all the parties concerned are aware that roundabouts are classified as municipal properties and cannot be legalized, the urban agency, responsible for the protection of state properties, has not taken any decision to prevent the construction of two floors on a public roundabout, under the eyes of all, outraged the same activists.
Faced with this anarchy, they call on the Minister of the Interior to intervene in order to protect the properties of the State which are transferred by devious and erroneous means by the services of the urban agency of Khemisset.
