Consumer Prices Drop in Northern Morocco Cities, HCP Report Shows

The Regional Directorate of the High Commission for Planning (HCP) of Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima has published a report showing that the Consumer Price Index (CPI) fell by 0.2% during the first eight months of the year in Tangier and Al Hoceima, while it remained stable in Tetouan.
According to the report, during the month of August alone, this Index, which measures the evolution of the average price level of goods and services consumed by households, recorded a 0.3% increase in Tangier compared to July, following a 1.4% increase in the index of food products and a 0.3% decrease in the index of non-food products.
In Tetouan, the 3% increase in the index of food products and the 0.3% decrease in the index of non-food products resulted in the Consumer Price Index rising by 0.8%.
It is the city of Al Hoceima that recorded the largest increase nationwide, with the Consumer Price Index rising by 2%, due to a 5.2% increase in the index of food products and a 0.7% decrease in the index of non-food products.
