U.S. Consulate Advises Americans to Avoid Pro-Palestine Protests in Morocco

The U.S. Consulate in Casablanca has invited American citizens to avoid areas where demonstrations in support of Palestine are being organized.
The organization of a march from Maréchal Square to the headquarters of the U.S. Consulate, passing through Avenue Hassan II and Avenue Moulay Youssef and other gatherings in other major cities in solidarity with Gaza are worrying the U.S. Consulate in Casablanca. "Although the demonstrations in Morocco are generally peaceful, U.S. authorities are warning against possible traffic disruptions, street closures and a possible rise in tensions. Security forces may intervene to contain the gatherings, thus increasing the risk of incidents," reads a "security alert" issued by the Consulate.
U.S. government personnel are invited to avoid these areas in the late afternoon and evening on Friday. American citizens are also advised to "remain vigilant, avoid large gatherings, follow updates from local media and comply with law enforcement instructions."
