EU Commissioners Visit Morocco to Strengthen Strategic Partnership

As part of strengthening the partnership between the European Union and Morocco, the European Commissioners for Home Affairs, Ylva Johansson, and for Neighborhood and Enlargement, Olivér Várhelyi, are on a working visit to Morocco. Among other activities, a meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nasser Bourita, is planned.
The two European Commissioners have come to discuss the various common interests and new cooperation opportunities with a strategic partner, as part of the new momentum given to the EU-Morocco partnership since the EU-Morocco Association Council in June 2019 and the adoption of a joint declaration.
In addition to the Ministers of the Interior, Abdelouafi Laftit, and of Foreign Affairs, Nasser Bourita, Commissioner Oliver Várhelyi will also meet with the Minister of Economy, Finance and Administrative Reform, Mohamed Benchaâboun; the Minister of Industry, Trade, Green Economy and Digital, Moulay Hafid Elalamy; the Minister of Education, Saaïd Amzazi, and Mustapha Bakkoury, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Moroccan Agency for Solar Energy.
On Commissioner Johansson’s agenda, the visit of several EU-funded projects in the field of labor migration and migrant integration is scheduled. She will also visit the Mohammed VI Institute, the imam training center. She will go there accompanied by the Minister of the Interior.
