EU Commission Chief Stresses Importance of Strong Morocco-EU Partnership

The strategic relations between Morocco and the European Union are of great importance, affirmed the President of the European Commission on Saturday. Ursula Von der Leyen also emphasized the mutual consideration and respect for commitments advocated by the Moroccan Sovereign in his speech on Friday.
Responding to a question about the end of the diplomatic crisis between Spain and Morocco announced by King Mohammed VI, the President of the European Commission indicated that it is crucial for Spain and Europe to maintain strong relations with Morocco. Moreover, "Morocco and the European Union are two strategic partners and it is important to maintain this relationship and consolidate it," said the President of the European executive during a joint press conference at the Torrejon de Ardoz air force base.
Morocco also intends to continue working with the Spanish government and its president to establish a "new stage" in relations between the two neighboring countries. Relations based on "trust, mutual consideration and respect for commitments," as the Moroccan Sovereign stressed on Friday in his speech.
