EU Seeks Deeper Strategic Partnership with Morocco, Says von der Leyen

During her visit to Rabat, the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, spoke about the Morocco-EU relations, reaffirming her willingness to continue to deepen the "strategic, close and solid" partnership with the kingdom.
At the joint press conference with the Head of Government Aziz Akhannouch, the European official indicated that the EU wishes "to deepen its relations as neighbors, as partners and as friends with Morocco."
Ursula von der Leyen also highlighted the contributions of Europeans living in Morocco and Moroccans living in Europe to the mutual enrichment of cultures that have influenced each other for centuries, adding that the meeting with the Head of Government was an opportunity to discuss the global challenges facing Morocco and Europe.
In this sense, she discussed with the Head of Government the main areas of common interest such as the development of a green partnership, the first one developed with a partner country. And to explain that the objective of this partnership is to engage together in the development of green energy and cooperation in the development of societal connectivity through a broad digital partnership.
Beyond bilateral cooperation, the EU is counting on Morocco in the implementation of the new Agenda for the Mediterranean, she continued, stressing her determination to continue the dialogue with the Kingdom on all these issues.
