Comedian Gad Elmaleh Reveals Near-Burnout Experience That Almost Ended His Career

Life has not always been rosy for Gad Elmaleh, even though he always keeps a smile on his face and has never lost his zest for life. The Moroccan comedian recounts a dark period in his career when he almost quit everything.
"I think my worst memory is that of a show where I was almost close to burnout. I had played too much, it was about fifteen years ago. The fact of having played too much meant that I heard my own jokes like diabolical sounds, it was terrible," Gad confided during his appearance on the "In Power" podcast.
The Moroccan comedian reveals that after this show, he was "very unhappy. I came off stage, and I said to myself ’I never want to do this job again, never again.’ And in fact, it’s not just an appreciation of what’s happening, it’s just done less, but it reminds me of Diam’s and her documentary."
Gad Elmaleh says he does not regret his success, but admits to having been lost at one point in his life. "At some point, you get a little lost in it. I didn’t get lost in it, but I remember a moment when I was almost there," he acknowledges, rejoicing in the "luck" he had, "because the people who really have burnouts, it’s too late."
