Comedian Gad Elmaleh Admits to Borrowing Material from American Peers

Accused of drawing a little too much inspiration from his American colleagues, Gad Elmaleh spoke out in the press on Wednesday. For the first time, he acknowledges having copied.
The accusations against the artist date back several months. Gad Elmaleh would use the inspiration of American comedians to write his shows. To this effect, the artist makes some clarifications in these terms: "I repeat it again, in good faith," he says. "I was inspired by some. But my career is not just about catchphrases or a few jokes. Even if you give me a list of jokes I was inspired by, my career project as a comedian is much more than that!"
He claims, according to ledauphine.com, to have a vision of life, a language that he thinks he has reinvented, a way of twisting the French language, a gesture and a physique that are his alone.
He admits, according to the newspaper, to having been inspired by a few, but in the videos that incriminate him, he finds delirious things! The comedian, who is currently playing in "The Invitation" at the Théâtre de la Madeleine in Paris, finds that taking a word from an artist does not make him a copycat.
