A murder case that had been closed for 17 years was reopened and solved in Hay Hassani in Casablanca last month. The accused, the son-in-law of the complainant, was arrested and taken into custody.
Driven by her intuition, the mother of the victim, who had disappeared with her 18-month-old son, filed a complaint against her son-in-law with the General Directorate of National Security. The complaint was referred to the head of the Hay Hassani police district in Casablanca, the neighborhood where the defendant took refuge after his crime, reports Aujourd’hui.ma..
Thanks to the investigations, the accused was arrested. He was questioned before confessing. In his statements, he admitted to having strangled his wife in Diour Jdad, an uninhabited area, over an infidelity matter. He confessed to having abandoned his 18-month-old son, the fruit of his wife’s infidelity, in El Jadida. As for his wife’s remains, he admitted to having buried them.
According to the elements found in the archives, the body found in 2003 was completely in an advanced state of decomposition at the time of its discovery. This had not allowed the investigators at the time to identify the body.
