CMA CGM Hikes Car Transport Rates on France-North Africa Routes

Starting in October, the French maritime group CMA CGM will increase its rates for the transport of cars in roll-on/roll-off (RO-RO) ships from France to Morocco, Algeria and Tunisia.
"Following the evolution of fuel prices recorded since the last adjustment of fuel surcharges, CMA CGM has decided to adjust these on its Roro Sud services connecting France to Algeria, Tunisia and Morocco," can be read in a press release published on its website. The new surcharges concern the transport of passenger cars, utility vehicles and small trucks, as well as container vehicles, whether loaded or empty, in addition to public works equipment, but also import and export operations.
In Morocco, the new rates for filled and empty Roll-on/Roll-off containers will cost €620 and €411 per unit respectively from October 1, 2024. The shipment of rolling equipment and utility vehicles will be billed at €62 per linear meter. For the loading of passenger cars and minivans from France, the price will be €212. As for the maritime transport of general cargo, it will cost €32 per cubic meter.
From October 1st, the shipment of loaded vehicle and truck containers to Algeria will cost €1,147 per unit. For empty containers, the price will be €722. The transport of passenger cars and small trucks will be billed at €247 per vehicle, while grouped cargo that can be divided during unloading (Breakbulk) will cost €70 per cubic meter. As for construction equipment and materials, such as wheeled equipment, tracked equipment, and livestock transport trucks, they will be billed at €149 per linear meter.
In Tunisia, the rates for filled and empty Roll-on/Roll-off containers will cost €481 and €319 per unit respectively. The shipment of rolling equipment and utility vehicles will be billed at €55 per linear meter. The loading rate for passenger cars and minivans will be billed at €185, while the transport of general cargo will cost €29 per cubic meter from and to Tunisian ports.
