Civil Guard Officers Accused of Aiding Drug Smugglers in Ceuta for €120,000

Civil Guard officers at the port of Ceuta would be accomplices of a drug trafficking network that was bringing in large shipments into the autonomous city from Morocco via a secret tunnel. They would have received 120,000 euros for this collaboration.
The investigation opened after the discovery, on February 19 in Sebta, of the narco-tunnel following the seizure of large quantities of hashish in Algeciras, revealed the complicity of the Civil Guards of the port of the autonomous city with the drug traffickers. The latter helped the criminal network to develop their illegal activities in exchange for 120,000 euros, according to sources of the investigation told La Razón.
The investigators managed to intercept conversations proving that members of the network paid a 5,000 euro advance to a Civil Guard at the port of Ceuta on December 8, 2024 to facilitate the "transport of illicit goods". In total, the agents received a total of 120,000 euros from the drug traffickers for their work; an amount that could increase with each cargo convoy.
From June 2023 to date, more than 6,000 kilos of hashish transported from Morocco via the narco-tunnel have been intercepted. Two Civil Guards involved in this traffic have been arrested and placed in pre-trial detention. Other agents have been released after being heard by the investigating judge in charge of the case.
According to the investigations, the gang does not transport all its cargoes from Morocco via the 50-meter-long and approximately 12-meter-deep tunnel, located in the Tarajal industrial zone. The investigation is ongoing. The Civil Guard investigators suspect a collaboration with Moroccan agents.
