Citroën’s Moroccan-Made Electric Microcar Sells Out in Minutes, Challenges Tesla

Electric car enthusiasts continue to show interest in the Citroën AMI, the electric car without a license manufactured in the PSA Group’s plant located in Kenitra, Morocco.
The Stellantis group, owner of Citroën, was pleased to have sold Wednesday the 50 units of the limited edition "My Ami Buggy" of its electric microcar in 17 minutes and 28 seconds. "My Ami Buggy" is offered from 9,790 euros.
Delighted to have achieved this result, the group hastened to wink at billionaire Elon Musk, founder of the Californian electric car giant Tesla, who in the meantime made a $44 billion takeover bid on Twitter. "Sorry Elon, if you want one, you’ll have to buy us," reads an advertisement.
Manufactured at the PSA Group’s plant in Kenitra, the Citroën Ami is a hit in Europe, Morocco and Turkey with around 22,000 sales recorded since April 2020. Car purchases are made online.
