Citroën Ami Electric Car Demand Surges, Overwhelming Moroccan Factory

The Citroën Ami electric is a huge success to the point that the manufacturer’s plant in Kénitra is overwhelmed. Delivery delays are becoming glaring.
The 100% electric quadricycle Ami sold for cash with an entry ticket of €6,900 (excluding bonus) or on long-term rental, starting at €19.99/month, is selling easily, especially with the diversification of sales channels. Online sales have brought in a lot for the manufacturer. Orders are multiplying. During confinement too. In total, 2,300 orders to date. Result: the Kénitra plant is overwhelmed.
Morocco is confined. Delays have been recorded in production. It is difficult for the manufacturer to source parts and export the Ami due to the constraints at the borders. Buyers are having a hard time understanding the situation. For its part, the company is working hard to satisfy its customers. Citroën tells L’Argus that it is "overwhelmed by the success" of the Ami in this period of health crisis but is striving to cope with the many orders.
