Nice Mayor Reports Muslim Prayer Incidents in Public Schools, Calls for Action

In a letter that was later shared on Twitter, Estrosi reported Muslim prayers and a minute of silence "in memory of the prophet Muhammad" by CM1 and CM2 students. These incidents, deemed "extremely serious", are said to have occurred in several establishments, according to him.

According to the academic inspector of Nice, these religious acts would have taken place in three Nice schools during the lunch break. Christian Estrosi has asked the prefect of the Alpes-Maritimes to quickly organize a meeting with all the services concerned to implement an action plan to, as he says, counter these drifts.

The mayor of Nice also mentioned the risk associated with families returning to France after joining the jihad in Syria. He believes that increased vigilance must be exercised towards the children of these families, currently enrolled in school without the mayors being informed. In this context, the mayor is calling for tougher measures in terms of prevention and the fight against radicalization.

On Twitter, Éric Ciotti, the president of the Republicans and deputy of the Alpes-Maritimes, also condemned these "serious facts", calling on the State to intervene "as a matter of urgency".
