Chinese Auto Parts Giant Dicastal Invests $350 Million in New Morocco Plant

The world leader in aluminum casting and the production of aluminum automotive parts, Citic Dicastal, has just inaugurated its new plant in Kenitra. The total investment is around 350 million euros, or about 4 billion dirhams.
This first plant of the Group in Morocco is "the example of the fruitful Moroccan-Chinese cooperation in the industrial field," welcomed the Government, which recalls that this is part of its industrial acceleration plan, initiated by the Kingdom, to revive its national industry.
"With this high value-added investment, Dicastal is introducing in Morocco a pioneering specialty, proven expertise and high-tech know-how, in favor of a competitive and efficient automotive industry," said the Minister of Industry, Moulay Hafid Elalamy, adding that Citic Dicastal is "one of the largest state-owned industrial groups in China, to which the Dicastal subsidiary belongs, which is the world number 1 in aluminum rims, with a colossal investment of nearly 4 billion dirhams".
The plant currently employs 420 people. But ultimately, the project should allow the creation of some 1,200 jobs, the Group’s managers also indicate.
"About 140 engineers, technicians and operators went to China for intensive training periods of up to 3 months in new technologies specific to our area of expertise," said the CEO of Dicastal Morocco, adding: "This expertise will be developed in our various training centers, for future recruits".
