Chico Slimani: Dubai scam, lost fortune and remarkable comeback

The icon of the X Factor show, Chico Slimani, 54, has broken his silence about the total loss of his assets. In an interview with the Sun, the artist revealed that he was stripped of “everything” he owned following a fraudulent investment in Dubai at the end of 2014, dragging several close friends’ funds down with him.

Far from letting the setback defeat him, the performer of Chico Time turned it into an opportunity to reinvent himself. Drawing on his experience in the health field, he launched the “BlockFit” fitness program, adopted by the Bannatyne club chain, before turning to wellness tourism. Symbolically, it was in his native country, Morocco, that he organized his first retreat in the Atlas Mountains, a concept he now exports as far as Thailand and Bali.

This shift toward mental and physical health was reinforced by dramatic personal hardships, including a stroke in 2018 and the suicides of several friends during the pandemic. These tragedies prompted him to develop breathwork techniques to help people suffering from anxiety.

On a personal level, Chico Slimani expressed his regrets over losing contact with his former mentor, Sharon Osbourne. He said he had wanted to offer his condolences following the death of her husband, rock legend Ozzy Osbourne, which occurred seven months ago according to his statements.
