Chelsea’s Ziyech May Miss Morocco Matches Amid Premier League COVID Concerns

While Vahid Halilhodzic is counting heavily on the presence of certain internationals for the preparation camp starting at the end of this month, he could find himself without Hakim Ziyech, the playmaker of the Atlas Lions who plays at Chelsea. English clubs are refusing to let certain players go, citing the rise in contamination cases.
Some observers believe that Liverpool’s refusal to let Mohammed Salah play for Egypt is likely to have a ripple effect. English clubs in which the Atlas Lions play could prevent them from joining Morocco to prepare for the matches against Sudan and Guinea.
Among the Moroccans playing in the Premier League, there is Hakim Ziyech, recently recovered from his shoulder injury. He could be absent, if the Blues decide to do like the Reds. There is also Romain Saïss from Wolverhampton, and Adam Masina from Watford.
Morocco is on the British government’s orange list regarding the Covid-19 pandemic. This list should be modified this Wednesday, August 25. But with the high contamination rates recorded, it is very likely that Morocco will move to red.
