Chelsea Urged to Retain Ziyech Amid Barcelona Interest, Says Former England Star

While the Moroccan international, Hakim Ziyech is still on the radar of FC Barcelona, the former English international, Glen Johnson, advises Chelsea not to sell their attacking midfielder.
"Yes. Hakim Ziyech is a fantastic player. If he plays with more energy, I think he would start a lot more games," said Glen Johnson to Betting Odds, urging Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel not to sell the Moroccan international.
Arrived from Ajax in the summer of 2020, the Atlas Lion has so far failed to establish himself to the point that he is regularly announced as a candidate for departure. Ziyech has played eight Premier League games with the Blues this season, and has scored only one goal in the 2-1 win against Watford last Wednesday. According to Glen Johnson, the Blues’ attacking midfielder could work wonders if he is used by the club’s coach.
"If he starts to enjoy his football, gets good playing time and finds some form, then Chelsea will see the player they signed in the meantime. [...] It’s difficult because he’s not at those heights right now, which is why there are rumors of him leaving, but if they find a way to let him enjoy his football and a little more playing time, I think they have an incredible player on their hands," added the former Blues defender.
