Chelsea Struggles to Offload Ziyech as Pochettino Plans Squad Overhaul

Chelsea’s new manager, Mauricio Pochettino, could face "major difficulties" in his attempts to sell Hakim Ziyech, according to the comments of transfer expert Dean Jones, reported by GIVEMESPORT. Pochettino, appointed as the Blues’ head coach this week, is devising a strategy to remodel his team during the summer transfer window, and this involves the departure of the Moroccan.

According to information from Football Insider, Paris Saint-Germain could represent an exit route for Ziyech. The Parisian club, which had already expressed interest last winter, would be willing to make a new offer. But Chelsea would not consider selling the winger for less than 30 million pounds sterling, an amount the club is unlikely to have.

To recall, the PSG had tried to attract Ziyech during the winter transfer window, but the transaction had failed at the last minute, causing frustration for the French club and the Moroccan player. Chelsea’s position in the negotiations remains strong, however, as Ziyech has a contract running for another two years, with a weekly salary of 100,000 pounds sterling.

Dean Jones expressed his opinion on the Ziyech case, arguing that the amount requested by Chelsea and the player’s salary demands could complicate the task of finding a buyer during the summer. The journalist estimated that Chelsea might have to lower its claims to part with the former Ajax player. "It will depend on what the market offers for him, because he is not a cheap player," Jones commented. He added: "This will be one of Chelsea’s big problems in this transfer window. It’s not about making the decision to want to get rid of players, but finding people to take them."

Ziyech, who had joined Chelsea for 37 million pounds sterling three years ago, has struggled to regain his optimal level. His statistics at Chelsea are far from brilliant, with only 14 goals and 13 assists since his arrival, and an increasingly infrequent starting role. His last start dates back to February, during Chelsea’s 2-0 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur. His time at Chelsea contrasts with his experience at Ajax, where he had contributed to 130 decisive actions. The current situation tends to suggest that a change of direction would be beneficial for both parties.
