Chelsea’s Struggles Mount as Ziyech’s Injury Absence Extends

Moroccan international Hakim Ziyech has been excused from the sporting events played by Chelsea since December 5. The Atlas Lion was injured in the thigh during the confrontation against Leeds, and the absence which should have only lasted two weeks is dragging on, compromising the performance of the entire team.
While the Moroccan player is eager to find his teammates, Chelsea coach Frank Lampard is even more so. The absence of Hakim Ziyech is demoralizing the Blues squad, which is not at its best. "With Hakim, the way he was playing, he was very effective in terms of assists, creating chances, and we were very flexible when he got injured against Leeds," reports Hespress.
The charisma and leadership of the Moroccan player are currently sought after to allow Chelsea to get back on track, since since December 5, the team has only won one game. On Sunday, Frank Lampard’s protégés could face Manchester City at Stamford Bridge, if the cases of contamination within this team are resolved. Indeed, the appearance of many cases of coronavirus infection led to the postponement of the match that Manchester City was to play against Everton on Monday evening.
Hakim Ziyech, according to the coach, should be back in training this week, even though there is a doubt hanging over the actual holding of the match against Everton on Sunday. The return of the victory maker would give his teammates a boost, because Chelsea desperately needs a victory to reposition itself in the English championship standings, the same source specifies.
