Chelsea Signs Former PSG Captain Thiago Silva, Bolstering Defense
Brazilian Thiago Silva, captain of Paris-Saint-Germain for eight seasons, has signed with Chelsea, joining Moroccan international Hakim Ziyech.
On Friday, the Brazilian player committed to the English club after the non-renewal of his contract with PSG and his refusal to sign a two-year contract with Fiorentina. "I am very happy to join Chelsea. (…) I am delighted to be part of Frank Lampard’s exciting team for next season. See you soon Chelsea fans, I can’t wait to play at Stamford Bridge very soon," said the Brazilian defender.
With PSG, Silva played more than 200 Ligue 1 matches. He won seven French championships, 5 French Cups, and 6 French League Cups. Hakim Ziyech, the future leader of the Blues according to former English international Ashley Cole, now has a new teammate of his caliber.
