Chelsea Blocks Ziyech Transfer Amid Barcelona, Dortmund Interest

Chelsea no longer intends to part with Hakim Ziyech. The English club no longer plans to loan the Moroccan international during the January transfer window, despite the interest of FC Barcelona and Borussia Dortmund in the player.
Thomas Tuchel would have decided not to transfer Hakim Ziyech anymore. The coach believes that the Moroccan international will continue to play an important role in the team for the rest of the season, reports the English press.
Hakim Ziyech has struggled to find his place within the Blues, whom he joined last year. The 28-year-old winger was transferred from Ajax for 45 million euros. In poor form, his performances have not convinced Tuchel who was determined to part with him. FC Barcelona, Borussia Dortmund and AC Milan had expressed interest in the Moroccan nicknamed "The Magician".
But for now, Thomas Tuchel prefers to keep Ziyech, citing his important role in the team. Yet, the Moroccan has scored only one goal this season. It was during the match against Malmö in the Champions League (1-0). In total, he has nine goals to his tally, across all competitions.
"It was difficult for me to regain my rhythm due to injuries. I never managed to regain my rhythm. Every day, I have to work hard to regain this rhythm. I try to contribute to the team by scoring goals and helping. I continue to have confidence in myself and in my abilities on the pitch," Ziyech said.
For his part, Tuchel is waiting to see Ziyech’s progress before letting him play longer during matches. "I think there is room for improvement in his decision making, his relationships on the pitch and his consistency. We still count on his work rate, his counter-pressing and his awareness," the German coach said.
