Cheb Khaled Prepares New Album with Arab Artists, Reflects on Pandemic's Impact

The king of Raï music and global icon for over 40 years, Cheb Khaled, is preparing his new album which will see the light of day on the horizon of 2021.

Cheb Khaled’s new album will bring together several Maghreb and Arab artists who will sing in unison for values of peace, love and sharing. He remains in a positive spirit in the face of this health crisis that the world is going through. This pandemic, in the artist’s opinion, has weakened the artists, like the other sectors. However, he thinks that work will soon resume given the evolution of events, writes the newspaper l’Economiste.

For having been the only Maghreb artist to have taken the lead, to make a clip on August 18, 2020, in favor of Lebanon, the singer affirms that it was important for him to support this country ravaged by a recent tragedy. Through the song "Beirut", Khaled wanted to prove his way of being present in these painful moments. Similarly, he appreciates the initiative and the other movements that followed.

For Khaled, borders have no place. Thus, he fights for a united Maghreb. He intends to do so until his last breath, in particular to break down the borders between Morocco and Algeria, he notifies. It is at least a difficult work but the star says he believes in the future. He also mentioned King Mohammed VI whom he has known since he was Crown Prince. The artist announces that he has great esteem for the Moroccan King and prays that God will bring him success, health and prosperity.

He also thought of great Algerian singers such as Idir, Rachid Taha, Cheb Akil... who are no longer there but of whom he has good memories. He even covered Idir’s song "El harba ouine" as well as his trip to Tizi Ouzou in a song dedicated to the youth, showing them in passing that happiness exists in the Maghreb and not in migration abroad.

It should be noted that Cheb Khaled is currently working on his next album. But before, precisely in October, he will release a single with the Palestinian singer Elyanna. The star plans to get involved in humanitarian work given everything he has seen on his travels and with the situation worsening with the health crisis. His wish is to bring joy to everyone and work for unity, reports l’Economiste.
