CGEM President Downplays Resignations Amid Leadership Shake-up in Moroccan Business Confederation

Saturday 20 July 2019, by Sylvanus

While the General Confederation of Moroccan Enterprises (CGEM) is vibrating to the rhythm of resignations, its President, Salaheddine Mézouar, displays relative serenity.

"There is neither crisis, nor implosion, nor malaise within the Confederation," affirms the President of the General Confederation of Moroccan Enterprises (CGEM).

The CGEM has recently recorded the resignation of the Vice-President General, Fayçal Mékouar, and that of Fadel Agoumi, Deputy Managing Director. For Salaheddine Mézouar, "these resignations in no way reflect a split within the CGEM," reports leconomiste.com.

In the life of an employers’ organization, he said, there are those who continue their commitment and fight to the end, and there are those who, for personal reasons, decide to no longer continue the adventure.

The head of the CGEM believes that internal differences and misunderstandings are part of the life of organizations, convinced that men and women come and go but the organization continues. He says he is determined to assume the responsibility that is his, until the end, at the head of the institution.

Next week, he plans to proceed with the selection of a new Deputy Managing Director and a new Vice-President General, to ensure the normal functioning of all the CGEM’s bodies.

Aware that other resignations could follow, Salaheddine Mézouar insists that he will not allow anyone to harm this 70-year-old organization, or prevent it from working properly. But how long will this relative serenity last?
