Ceuta Residents Petition Moroccan King to Ease Border Restrictions

A delegation from Ceuta is mobilizing to send King Mohammed VI a petition, signed by the city’s residents, to request the reduction of the security measures put in place to put an end to smuggling.
The association "Residentes de la ciudad de Ceuta" (Residents of the city of Ceuta) is active in collecting signatures for its petition to the Moroccan sovereign.
For this association, customs should not break all ties with the city, after having always evolved in peace with their environment and shown signs of solidarity every time it has been necessary.
In the preamble to their petition, the collective residing in this city considers that the Moroccan demand on Spanish citizens to affix their stamp on passports at the Tarajal border post "is a procedure that complicates" their entry into the country. It also expressed its "regret" at the decision taken by the Moroccan authorities which has restricted the mobility of goods and people.
For the petitioners, this correspondence to the monarch represents "an urgent appeal", which reflects "the values of tolerance, understanding and traditional virtues".
