Ceuta Leader Calls for Visa Requirements on Moroccan Visitors Amid Border Reopening Plans

The President of Ceuta, Juan Jesús Vivas, seized the opportunity of his meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, José Manuel Albares, to request the removal of the visa exemption granted to Moroccans residing in Tetouan.
Welcoming the resumption of relations between Spain and Morocco, the President of Ceuta wished, within the framework of the upcoming gradual and progressive reopening of the Tarajal border, that the visa exemption currently enjoyed by Tetouan residents be removed and that a commercial customs office be set up to ensure the free movement of goods.
Vivas also asked Albares to work for "the integration of Ceuta into the European Union’s customs union" as well as into the EU Committee of the Regions. The Minister of Foreign Affairs indicated that he will "analyze" all his claims "with the greatest care".
