Ceuta Imposes Visa Requirements on Moroccan Cross-Border Workers

As expected, the government of Ceuta has decided to remove the visa exemption granted to Moroccans. New entry conditions for the enclave have been set and will come into effect at the end of May.
This new measure concerns Moroccan cross-border workers legally recognized by the enclave’s executive, who will now have to obtain a visa before accessing their workplace.
Thus, they will have to make an appointment at the Tetouan consulates starting Monday, May 23, 2022 before presenting themselves the next day, Tuesday, with the requested documentation (passport, work permit or extension, photos, etc.). Once the visa is obtained, the interested parties must make an appointment at the Ceuta immigration office to subscribe to a TIE. Note that the cost of the visa is set at 826 dirhams.
For the Ceuta government delegation, it is only "a simple, flexible and fast procedure that will allow cross-border people with granted permits, but without a TIE, to access Ceuta via a visa with limited territorial validity." According to sources from the Spanish Ministry of the Interior, these new provisions would only concern a group of about 200 people in total.
